Beta-Alanine
is the alone by itself occurring beta-amino acid. It is formed in vivo by the
abasement of dihydrouracil and carnosine. It is a basic of the by itself
occurring peptides carnosine and anserine and aswell of R-pantothenic acid
(vitamin B5) which itself is a basic of coenzyme A. Under accustomed
conditions, beta-alanine is metabolized into acerb acid.
